Jason Matthewson is an award-winning producer, actor, writer, and entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in the film and TV industry. He is the CEO and founder of The Markit Group, an internationally recognised production company launched in 2023, responsible for acclaimed indie films including Suppression, That’s Just Me, Purple Beatz, and When the Rain Ends.
As a producer, Jason oversees creative development, fundraising, packaging, hiring key crew, sales, and distribution. His films have premiered at festivals like Sundance, SXSW, and BFI London. He has raised over $20M in private equity and maintains regular contact with sales agents, distributors, major studios (Universal, Paramount, Netflix), talent agents, and investors.
Jason is also an accomplished actor with over 100 credits in theatre, TV, and film, including lead roles in Downbound Wayfarer, When the Rain Ends, Private Detectives, and Black Ice. He has won multiple awards for his acting, including Best Actor at the Indie Feature Awards.
Based between London, Dublin, and Los Angeles, Jason attends all major film markets around the world — Cannes, AFM, EFM, Venice, LFF — and has developed an extensive understanding of the market from all perspectives: sales and buying power, market trends, and what sells and what doesn’t. He is also the co-founder and director of the Gold Movie Awards and a partner at The Old Film Farm.
